Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

I think it's worth taking the time to consider, especially in relation to business.

So much of what is taught about business is extrovert-based:

• Speaking on stage or in webinars
• Building and working with a team
• Doing regular photoshoots to add to the website, social, emails, etc
• Getting on video

I mean really there's a big long list of things you're told you should do as an entrepreneur that are pretty darn "extrovert leaning".

So what do you do if you're an introvert in an extrovert world?

Adapt.

I was "the shy one" growing up. I still am. I LOVE one on one conversations but throw me in a group, even of all people I know, and I'll let others do the talking. I'm not going to "fight" to get a word in or monopolize the overall conversation.

I'm not a fan of running webinars and I spoke on stage ONCE, which was more than enough.

I hate phone calls for business because they take me all day to think about and then afterwards I have ZERO energy for anything else.

So what's a girl to do?

• I write emails because it's a world I love... a quiet time to create a message that thousands of people can see.
  ​
• I stopped hosting live trainings and webinars so I could offer self-study courses that people can use whenever they need it.
  ​
• I avoid live-invite collaborations and instead find ways to quietly build my traffic on my time.
  ​
• I keep my social media posts to a minimum (and if we're being honest I keep threatening to stop posting entirely) because I really hate the "look at me and make my reel go viral" grind.

Don't let anyone tell you that you HAVE TO do it their way. You don't. You can find a way. You can be an introvert in an extrovert business world and still make an impact and create an awesome living doing what you love.
